It's looking like a game
Olivier Archer

We'll I've been hard at work with the UDK learning and using Kismet. I love their visual scripting system because it seems like such a natural way of doing it. I'm happy because I've managed to figure out how to do everything I want to so far and I'm glad with my pace as well. Also if teachers had said Algebra was used in making games I'm sure a lot of young boys would pay a lot more attention in class.

I'm in the asset creation part of the process so expect to see some pictures soon!

To go, or not to go?
Olivier Archer

What have I been up to? Well I'm still working on my game project but so far it's been mostly behind the scenes work like optimizing the models, getting the UDK set up for my game, figuring out what kind of camera system I want, exporting the models all that good stuff. However I should have new images soon. I've managed to get the little robot walking and control able in the UDK, let me tell you I was quite proud of myself for that. I built the character from scratch, made my own rig, made the walk cycle and now able to control it! I have also been importing the first level into the UDK, I wish I could get the lighting like in 3D max but it's looking good so far. Images will come later.

On personal side, everything is ok, I might have to do a trip that I don't want to but it's kind of important, it sucks because some one in my family could do it for me, they live like 15min away by foot from the place I have to go to, but apparently I should go, the fact that I live atleast 4 hours away by train is ok, also I have to come back the same day. Family, don't even bother trying to use logic when dealing with them.

Done
Olivier Archer

I think the site has reached a publishable level today, I'm quite happy of how it turned out. I'm going to do one more bug sweep and make sure everything is working and that there are no errors.

I didn't get to add all the art that I wanted to because I can't access it now, but maybe I'll add them in the future plus it leaves room for new projects. Also looking back at some of my work, now I seem to think I could do better now and I would like to remake some of my old animations with the new skills that I have aquired and I think I might do that too.

I also decided to add some tutorials that I had written a while back and it has inspired me do some more in the future.

Anyway I need to get my self a personal twitter account, you know, just because.

Still working
Olivier Archer

I'm still working hard getting this site up and running but things are going well, I overcame some interesting challenges in the making of this website. Something I like is that when you're working on a website in the begining it feels a bit alien and strange but the more you work on it the more things just seem to come together and "click" into place. This isn't always true sometimes no matter what you do, one little tiny but important part will refuse to "click". Days can be lost trying to figure it out but thankfully that phenomena is quite rare.

More things to do tomorrow but I'm happy with the pace it is coming at, I can't wait for it to be finished! Who am I kidding it will never be finished because I'll always keep updating so, I should say I can't wait until it is ready to be shared.
